About Cortes Island
Cortes Island is located in the northern gulf islands in Georgia Strait. One of the most beautiful of the Discovery Islands, it lies about 12 miles off the eastern coast of Vancouver Island, roughly opposite the city of Campbell River. Cortes Island offers an interesting geographical diversity in its topography with a mix of lakes, bluffs and sandy beaches.
Cortes Island can be reached by boat, float plane or BC ferries via Quadra Island. From Campbell River you take a ferry to Quadra Island (10 min) then drive across Quadra to Heriot Bay ferry terminal (10 min) and take the ferry to Cortes (45 min). For a ferry schedule click here.
Cortes Island has a number of grocery stores, restuarants, coffee shops, post office, medical clinic, bank, community halls and 2 schools.
